Assembly Bill 1649 by Assemblymember Quirk-Silva is sponsored by the California Alternative Payment Program Association (CAPPA), and is supported by over 40 community-serving and family advocacy organizations, including the Child Care Provider's Union (CCPU). Join us on Tuesday, May 17th at 8:30 AM on the West Steps of the Capitol for our Press Conference on AB 1649 (Quirk-Silva) where legislators, advocates, parents, providers, business and labor will unite in support of this equity-centered policy to uplift and support families!

AB 1649 will continue current state policy to give equitable childcare vouchers to providers based on a family’s actual need. This policy is set to expire on June 30 unless the Legislature and Governor Newsom act NOW. Without it, childcare providers will risk closure; families will risk losing stable, high-quality learning environments for their children, and employers will risk losing the workers they rely upon to stay open.
